One of the largest seaport and container ports in EMEA was fighting a constant battle with corrosion. To keep the port operating at peak efficiency and reliability, they sought an automated AI inspection software that could both connect with their autonomous drones and integrate with ServiceNow, their ticketing and dispatch platform, to improve their asset inspection productivity, capacity and accuracy.
Utilizing self-developed autonomous drone technology to conduct automated inspections of their gantries, the port authority systematically collected inspection images and automatically uploaded them into Optelos, where they were geotagged, analyzed for corrosion utilizing computer vision AI, and prioritized for repair. Optelos’ integration with ServiceNow facilitated automatic trouble ticketing, creating work orders and dispatching repair resources to the specific geolocation of detected defects.
The integrated solution with Optelos AI inspection software, autonomous drones and ServiceNow ticketing reduced mean time to repair by 60% by locating, prioritizing and automatically initiating repair work on detected corrosion issues.
Connecting vision AI inspection software with ticketing and dispatch systems to automate and accelerate transmission line fault detection and repair
One of the largest and fastest growing power companies in South America with over 1500 km of transmission lines was planning to move to automated drone inspection with integrated machine learning for visual inspection. Transmission line inspection is a perfect application for realizing the benefits of automated AI inspection software, as the infrastructure is geographically distributed, dangerous to manually inspect, and typically suffers similar damage and fault conditions that are routine for vision AI inspection engines to assess.
Optelos is the only geospatial data management platform that delivers a complete vision AI inspection workflow. The power utility used Optelos to securely store their automated drone inspection images, annotate and label the infrastructure images to train the vision AI engine for routine fault detection classes, then deploy the automated AI inspection software to systematically detect and prioritize transmission line defects. Optelos was also integrated with their trouble ticketing solution to automatically create work orders, further enhancing the speed and efficiency of resource deployment.
Over 675k images and 3.2TB of data across 267 project sites have been evaluated by the Optelos AI inspection software. Computer vision AI/machine learning for visual inspection has automated fault detection; combined with trouble ticket integration, the power utility has achieved a 70% reduction in remediation time and a 3X increase in visual inspection capacity utilizing the same organizational resources.
Verifying PPE through automated AI inspection software to improve worker safety and validate compliance with OSHA regulations
The company implemented automated vision AI inspection software to verify that employees were wearing all required PPE prior to entering a controlled area. Upon badge scan, the vision AI inspection software verified personnel were wearing eye protection, a hard hat and a reflective vest. Once the presence of all required PPE was verified, employees were permitted access to the restricted area.
PPE enforcement increased to 100% at the site, protecting employees from accidental injury, delivering total EH&S compliance and exhibiting organizational control through effective and repeatable protocols.

5G deployment efficiency improved by verifying current tower configuration, installation space, power availability and required parts utilizing drone data analysis
Utilize digital twin software to optimize turnaround/shutdown planning and execution
Completing turnaround maintenance actions is complex, time-consuming and expensive. Information required to complete these complicated maintenance actions often exists in multiple programs used by different supporting organizations in several locations. Drone data management can be challenging given its unstructured nature. Gaining a complete, strategic view of an asset’s current state with all relevant documents can be extremely challenging.
Our customer utilized the Optelos visual data management system as an organizing and visualization tool for their complex turnaround actions. By creating detailed digital twins of assets undergoing maintenance, they were able to append all required documentation to the 3D pointcloud models, complete thorough drone data analysis, and review in-depth equipment status and project schedules with relevant documents, manuals and inspection reports during regular team maintenance meetings, improving team collaboration and project oversight.
