DistribuTECH 2023 In Review
DistribuTECH International 2023 was held in San Diego, California from February 7-9, 2023. The three–day gathering of industry experts, utility professionals, and technology innovators focused on the development, deployment, and optimization of distributed energy resources (DERs) and the future of the electricity grid. The event was a great success, with many attendees leaving the conference energized and inspired by the potential of distributed energy resources and the future of the electricity grid.
DistribuTECH 2023 was attended by over 5,000 attendees from the public and private sectors. Attendees included representatives from utilities, regulators, government, technology companies, and the energy industry. The conference featured a wide variety of educational and networking opportunities, including a series of panel discussions and workshops, which focused on topics such as grid modernization, distributed energy resource integration, and the future of energy storage. A keynote address was delivered by Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, who spoke about the importance of transitioning to clean energy sources and how the current grid must evolve to meet the demands of modern society.

Innovation Awards Offer Insights into Future Technology Developments
An important highlight of the event was the unveiling of the DistribuTECH 2023 Innovation Awards. The awards were presented to organizations that have demonstrated leadership and innovation in the areas of grid modernization, distributed energy resource integration, and energy storage. The event honored the most revolutionary technologies, services, and products that are driving the transformation of the energy industry. The awardees included companies from all over the world, ranging from large corporations to start–ups.
This year, the event honored the most revolutionary technologies, services, and products that are driving the transformation of the energy industry. The awardees included companies from all over the world, ranging from large corporations to start–ups. In total, fifteen companies were recognized for their outstanding work in the energy industry. The top award of the night went to a start–up in India which has developed an innovative solution for electric vehicle charging. Their solution includes a cloud–based platform that allows users to manage and monitor their charging activities. The second-place award was presented to a company from the United States that has developed a revolutionary system for energy storage, and the third-place award was presented to a company from the United Kingdom that has developed a revolutionary platform for monitoring and managing energy demand.
The focus on supporting the transformation of the energy industry was represented in the remaining awards presented to companies from Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. All of these companies have developed innovative solutions for a variety of energy-related challenges. The Distributech 2023 Innovation Awards demonstrated the importance of innovation and collaboration in the energy industry. This award ceremony highlighted the importance of investing in new technologies and services in order to drive future growth and development. As a visual data management solution, Optelos was not nominated for any wards, although our solution is a critical component that enables the digital transformation of asset inspections for energy utilities globally.
